Toyota specs have always been fishy...they change specs to suite their purpose. For example, 4runner's ground clearance is 9.1" while the identical GX470 is 8.3"...btw, the right answer is 8.3". Or take the 4runner's breakover angle which magically grew from 22 degrees (2003 specs) to 28 degrees (2006-2008) despite no changes underneath. Thus, IMHO, Lexus specs have been more accurate than Toyota.
they still did not update the LC200 US info... I doubt they ever will.

I'm not very familiar with the 4runner/GX470's but could the discrepancy be because running boards were standard on the GX470's and not standard on all 4runners? Surely, that would change ground clearance and breakover angle.

Nope. Many 4runner owners have manually measured their lowest point (front skidplate) and confirmed that ground clearance is indeed around 8.3". The front skidplate is lower than the running boards.
The breakover angle changed for the 4runner itself from year to year! Lexus does not state breakover angle in it's stats. I think that the running boards are higher than bottom of frame.
I can't believe they scored the LC so high in the exterior segment...I still say it isn't ugly, but not exactly attractive either. Bland is the best word I can think of .

WOW
Wrangler led the mechanical and very high in exterior.
4th highest rating overall in a 194 year old body style....
I test drove TLC, owned Toyota Seqouia and just traded in the 2008 Seqouia to LX 570 after only 1 and half year . Sequoia is not that really bad SUV but ... the ride is not so great , we took it from NYC to Canada and we seemed to be tired after long driving 'coz it's a truck what can you expect? TLC is great but for 10K difference we opted for LX 570 plus we only got the LX for 68K, 4K diffeernce with TLC w/c is 64K come on ! do the math! down the road if I want to trade it in I think I have the upperhand , what you guys think ?

Congrats.....You should like your LX570....(personally nothing would stop me from getting a Toyota Land Cruiser over the LX..not even price)..but the LX570 is the perfect long distance SUVs compared to the Sequoia...the Sequoia while nice, just isn't refined. The HVAC/Radio/NAV in the LX are all intergrated into one unit where the Sequouia is not and the reach to the nav is a little far.
Also, the LX has the AVS suspension from Toyota which used part hydraulic and some air. It lowers on the highway for better cruising ride.
Lastly the interior of the LX is far nicer than the Sequoia.
Thank you very much ! we've been trying to get TLC since 1986 but , we ended up with Toyota 4runner and we still have it 1997 limited model now with 97000 miles on it and still going and going and going ! the 2008 TLC my wife test drove is really great but , the dealer wants 64000 with 5000 something miles on it and we decided to wait until we got a good deal from Lexus . It's a leftover 2008 w/out miles on it . TLC lasts forever i might get a used one after my 2 kids finished college ! now I have 2 japanese cars with nothing to worry about ... My 2 sons want to get Toyota scion tc instead of honda civic which every college kids driving around here in NY ... I think they having a great choice too ! like father like son !

+1 Pacman, welcome to CL, you'll get more than the 4K back when trading, plus you'll be driving a LEXUS. Good luck with your new vehicle
