Default 95 front bumper on 94 SC400

I don't like the look of 97+ front bumper on the SC as much as the closed in front on 92 to 96. What I do like is the fog lamps. Will a 95 bumper bolt on to a 94, and what will the wiring for the fog lamps entail.

your question is very confusing... could you reword it?

It appears that you want the fog lamps, but you don't like the look of the 97+ front end. (Some people don't like that little grill I guess) but anyhow.

If you want the fog lamps, people on this board have wired the turn signal lights to come on with the headlights. If you want the fog-lights, any stereo shop should be able to make that little change for you.

Basically, I do not like the kit look or the 97+ front bumper look as much as the closed in front , don't know how else to say it, of the 1992-96 SCs. I like where the fog lamps are on the 95 and 96 and I do not care for my cornering lights, to me they are pretty much useless. What I was thinking, could I take the front bumper assembly of a 1995 or 1996, with fog lights, and install it on a 1994 SC.

the entire front bumper cover is one peice. You can't get the lower part w/out the upper "open" grill. Unless you want to spend $$$$ on getting a custom application.

I may be wrong, but up until 97 the lower lights on a SC were connering lights. Swapping up to a 95/96 won't do anything for you.

1992-1996 (Basically the same, a few cosmetic changes & what not)

1997-2001 (New Front End w/ grill & fogs, also has side skirts & different tail lights)

(1992-1994 has one style tail lights, 1995&96 has another)

From 1992-1994, the lower lights were 15w cornering lights. In 1995 and on, they used 55w foglights. You can just buy the 95-96 foglights from the dealership and remove your cornering light housings. You will have to splice in an H3 plug. If you're interested, Steve Ganz at Carson Toyota will most likely have the best pricing on them. 1-800-90-TOYOTA.

Ahh, so they did switch them... but as I thought, it's simple electrical work, and swapping the bumper is like killing a fly w/ a 1/4lb of Composition 4... overkill

Oops, forgot to mention, once you swap the foglight housings, you'll still need to set in an automotive relay to turn them on with the parking lights. Otherwise you just have really bright cornering lights.

Seeing a few other posts on the subject, I see that I can not put stock 95 or 96 fog lights in my 94 grille, and add a relay, because they will not fit properly, is that correct? I will need to change my front bumper with new stock fogs and add a relay, as I first suspected?

Correct...95-96 fogs will not fit in the 92-94 bumper no matter what you do. You can only have 95 fogs if you have the 95-96 bumper. So if you want the fogs...you need to get the bumper too.

Yup, you need the bumper with the lamps.

I tried this...no go.

The 95-96 fog lights are double the depth and have a different curve on the outsides.

Can I make them fit....YES....will they stay there and look decent... NOPE.

What happens is that the light goes in...but sticks out flush with the bumper instead of sitting inside the hole. It also causes a stress on the hole. I didn't like the look. Also, after the cutting and shoving, the foglights will aim about 10degrees off to the sides because of the hack job.

The new bumper is the only way to do it. $500+paint is what I found out including the fogs.

So basically...

If I want to convert the 92 front to the 97+ front i would need the following...

Front bumper skin
Fog Lights
Relay
Foam bumper behind the skin

Am I missing anything?

Also, if I get a Bomex 97 kit, i am assuming i just need to buy the fog lights right?

Ask yourself this. Why do you want the fog lamps? Just for looks or do you need those extra 2 lights that bad for visibility. Doing a simple relay with your cornering lights would do the trick. It would look almost the same and I am sure lighting on the road wouldent be much different. Why do somethin that would cost you close to $600 when your could just rewire them and have almost the exact same look for nearly nothing.
