actually, the screen for ML and non ML are the same. The main difference is the DVD/CD changer which you do not have for sale.

You have a very low post count, and this is a high dollar item. Im going to need you to provide someone on this board to vouch for you. If you cannot provide a vouch, then i will have to close your thread, sorry.

out of curiosity why would you have to buy your own parts to fix the car when you car is under warranty? unless you've driven over 50k in the past year?

I did the nav hack and installed the Vaistech unit. When trying to get all the wiring in there, I think I pushed a little too hard.

All together, what I did voided the warranty on the nav and since I cut some wires in the car's harness....well, nuff said.

I vouch for him as well.

It sucks that you had to buy a whole new navi unit to get the dealer to cover this. Shows you how quickly they jump to denying warranty when the see those aftermarket mods. At least it's all figured out and you don't have to sell the car. Good luck in the sale!

I will vouch for Devan as well. Mike and I tried to rectify his issue and I was confident it was not the nav unit. Since my 2gen did not have nav, I would buy this asap if I still owned the car. Many members on CL have bought this unit on Ebay and retrofitted their non-nav IS's with this.

Damn if only there was a working way to install this on a non-nav car. I would be all over this!! Although it is missing some key components that would be needed. Does anyone have any info regarding this?

^ Go to the FAQ section for the 2IS and there is a thread specifically for this. Its not that hard of a project.
