GS4AC, you have a really nice ride! However, as you've probably heard (and I've learned from experience), aftermarket mods usually depreciate the value of a car.

You'd be better off parting out the car and trying to sell it as close to stock as possible.

I'm not flaming you, though. Either way, best of luck!

why would aftermarket parts depreciate the value of the car?

extra part s=you don't have to spend extra money on parts
extra parts=someone spent money on aftermarket parts=loves their car=took good care of it

Hmm....let's think for a minute....putting things that don't belong originally to the car.....

MOST people buying a car don't want this kind of stuff on it. I'm not saying that I would mind having that car because GS4AC did a really good job on it, but if that car was taken to a dealership, all those mods would not be considered in the value of the car. The dealership would probably even take money off of the value because they have to pay their people to put it back to stock.

The true value is sentimental. If I were to sell my car, I'd definitely part it out first. But, I love my car and it's staying with me!

I hope this clarifies your , leogsx97. Again, I'm not trying to be mean or whatever in any way whatsoever to GS4AC.

Kev is right , but I think he worded it in correctly.

When you try to sell a car with mods, you significantly shrink the market in which you have to sell the car. Its hard for people like us, who love to, and have to mod a car, to see the logic in this. But the reality of it is a modded car will have a smaller buyers market, ecspecially when you talking about a Lexus GS series car. The only car that I have ever sold, and have seen many others sell, that were highly modded, without losing their a*s, is the Supra TT's, other than that its easier to sell as close to stock as possible. There are also those of us who love to mod that would still have a stock platform to work with, create their own masterpiece!

Personally, I think its a beautiful car, and if I was in the market I would have no issues whatsoever with buying a modded car, which I did when I bought mine. It hink his price is pretty good too for that matter.

GS4AC, nice car, good luck selling it.

Kevs....since this forum has many people who enjoy modded cars, I thought I post it here first to see if anyone would be interested. I definitely agree with both you and TTurbo about putting the car back to stock, but right now, I just don't have the time. It may be a limited market, but who knows. Like I said, I have all the stock parts, so putting it back to stock is not a problem. Thanks for your suggestions, though.

I think it depends on the buyer. Placing an ad for a modded car here is a good idea. Most of the people on this site mod their cars. Placing an ad in the auto trader (for example) would be seen by ALL potential buyers. Some of which would like to buy a Lexus in stock form. I personally bought my '99 GS4 in January. The owner put on the RMM intake, exhaust and front grill. I was going to put those upgrades on the car anyway after I bought it. So again, it depends upon the buyer. Advertising it here where people discuss these mods is great! You might find someone who is looking for a Lexus with what you have done to your already!

BTW, NICE RIDE!

Modded or not, the discussion is really irrelavant for the purpose of this thread. C'mon guys, don't turn his for sale post into a debate wheather to return a car to stock before selling it. Sounds like a good topic for the GS forum, just my opinion.

I have seen and drove this car in person and I can vouch that this car runs GREAT and is in EXCELLENT condition. For those of you who don't want to spend all your time fixing up the car, this is the perfect thing. All the parts are high quality and in good condition.
