FS: S&S Headers - cracked/salvagable
I have for sale a set of S&S headers that were on my car and cracked after months-years/1600miles per month of usage. These can be salvaged by welding - route out cracks and locally remove JetHot coating and weld repair ( re-coat if you want ). The driver side header lasted over 3 years before cracking and the passenger side lasted about 1 year. Get 'em while you can, weld repair them and go - for a cheap price. $225 shipped

I would guess that if you were to have the cracks heavily welded by a good tig welder while adding some additional welding up the front and rear bank pipe merge lines, as in the later design, these would last at least another 3 years.
It really just depends how much work/hassle/$$$ you would be willing to deal with in getting that work done. The other thing I am not sure about is how the Jet-Hot coating affects the ability to weld on these? I assume it is a ceramic base and would need to be cleaned/wire-wheeled off to get ample conductivity.
Still the question remains, was the original chosen pipe thickness 0.???" too thin, as such when the original welding was done, weakend it at these key stressed areas? I do remember jbrady explaining that the additional weld lines and increased pipe thicknesses were the main revisions to the earlier designs.
