Default Wanted: 2002 GS300 Sportdesign Chrome Grill

Does anyone know how much these go for?
I know you can "chrome it out yourself." I did that with my 98 grill. But when it comes chrome from Lexus, the quality is perfect and I think its worth the upgrade. Anyone interested in a groupbuy?

Thumbs up '01 grille

You can definately DIY. I did mine and it looks really sharp. The grille itself is 145.00 or something like that. It took me about an hour to do it. I only chromed the face of each bar so it's not all chrome. I think it looks better. I hope this helps.

There was a probe thread a week or so ago about a GP for this item. I am interested also. I already checked with Steve about a GP and he is checking on it. Once I get info, I can then contact Ethan about a GP. I'll let you know what Steve says.

Is there any difference than the regular 02 grill other than the chrome is uncovered?

Late.

As far as I know, the shape of the 02 and the SportsDesign grill is the same. The chrome is only exposed on the "main" vertical bars and not the side pieces. There is a picture of it in this thread:

https://www.clublexus.com/forums/sho...rtdesign+grill

For 01 and 02 owners, I am not sure of the benefits of getting the SD grill (since you cand DIY the chrome). I have a 98 GS and the new grill looks "beefier", if that makes sense. This is why I want the new grill. The chrome is just a bonus.

If the regular 2002 grill retails for $145 and Steve Ganz (Carson Toyota) is selling the REAL Sportdesign chrome grill for about $160 it makes sense to buy the Sportdesign.
Unless you think its worth your time to do it yourself (takes 2-4 hours, kills your brain cells) and it will never look as good as the one Lexus makes. Not to mention the fact that when you sell your car and you decide to sell your grill seperately, no one is going to buy your Do it yourself grill but the Sportdesign should bring in about $100.

Hi guys,

I f you look at this thread:

https://www.clublexus.com/forums/sho...rtdesign+grill

You will see the pre-2001 grill that futuregs chromed. At the bottom, you'll see the Sportdesign grill that comes chromed from the factory. You'll see that it is only partially chromed at the "main" vertical pieces. The accenting parts in between these "main" pieces are black.

From what I can tell, the 2001 grill is the same shape (compare with fasthuh's grill or your grill if you have a pre-2001 to see the difference) as the Sportdesign grill. The only difference is that there is no chrome showing on the 2001 grill.

I hope this helps. Sorry I don't have time to illustrate this in pictures.

my car is having some front-end damage fixed right now and i want to replace my grill with this one. i have an '00gs4 and when i called the dealer, their parts guy was not very helpful. he said they (lexus of portland) just received their first car yesterday and they have no part numbers for this grill so they can't order one and he does not know if it fits on my '00gs4.

can anyone help me? i am on short timeline as the body shop is ordering parts for my car on monday!

will it fit my car? where do i get one of these? someone mentioned a toyota parts guy in california?

any help is appreciated.

Let me get this straight.....

There are 3 grills for the GS

1998-2000 painted

2001-2002 painted

2001-2002 Chromed

Is that correct?
