I just purchased a '99 GS400 w/11k and 1-1/2yrs left on the original warranty. I would like to buy the Lexus Platinum extended warranty and need to know if Lexus allows you to purchase one w/in the original warranty period and if so where the best price is?

According to my dealer you HAVE to buy the Lexus extended warranty no less than 3 months BEFORE the regular warranty runs out. But, they want $2,100 for the 100,000 mile/ 7-year warranty. More than I'd like to pay.

I've only got 6k on my car, but I'm planning to keep it for the long run and I'd like to get the extended warranty if it were more reasonably priced.

Thanks Marty for the input. I'm going to post this to the GS general board for input. I know that I could check several dealers on the net and ask for quotes, but I would hope someone has already turned these stones and knows of a dealer willing to deal on it.

I will consider the aftermarket warranties if I can't get the Lexus one. This GS is a really nice car that literally sounds like a Borg Cube with all the electronics in it, but I would hate to imagine the long term costs of maintentance when that warranty expires.
