We just bought a beautiful clean 1994 300ES & the previous owner lost the remote door opener long time ago. My question is: I've located some used key fobs with "Almost" the same FCC code (mine is HYQ1512A) .the used one I found is HYQ1512P.. the difference is the "last" letter in the code. Can one with a P or "Other" last letter be programed to used in our car? I called the local lexus parts dept., the kid really didn't know a thing about it, except they want $297.00 for a new set..Surley someone here must know more than the parts kid !! thanks in advance !!!

Remote Keyless Entry Programming Procedure
(Customer Program Method)


1. Sit in the driver's seat and lock all the doors.
2. Unlock and open the driver's door.
3. Insert the key into the ignition and remove it (don't turn it...just remove it).
4. Using the MANUAL lock switch on the driver's door, lock and unlock the door 5 times.
5. Close the door.
6. Open the door.
7. Lock and unlock the driver's door 5 times (with the power switch).
8. Insert the key into the ignition and turn it to the "ON" position.
9. Remove the key.
10.The driver's door will now lock and unlock itself one time.
11.Press and hold the "LOCK" button on the key fob for at least 1 second.
12.Close the driver's door.
13.Open the driver's door.
14.Press and hold the "LOCK" button on the key fob for at least one second.
15.Close the driver's door.
16.Press and hold the "LOCK" button on the key fob. The door will lock.
17.Press and hold the "LOCK" button on the key fob again. The door will unlock.

..thanks for the repleys & esucaris1's reprogram info..I have that info to use when I get a used remote..I'd like to hear from someone who has bought a "Used" remote, from ebay or a salvage yard etc., and it worked in their vehicle..again I have a '94 300ES..the stealer wants almost $300.00 for a new one..lol this is a great site..!

try lexus-parts.com they have the whole key and fob for $150 sent to ur door

I found mine in the "Owners" manual. page through it slowly..or you might call your lexus dealer. Ask for the parts dept & have your vin number ready.I think they can tell that way also..good luck..I'm still looking for a used one..

battery died in key, so i bought another battery and installed it.
key wont operate the lock and unlock function now

ran through these steps and it does the lock/unlock automatically and beeps like its supposed to but the key still wont operate the lock/unlock function. nor will it activate the beeping sound.

any ideas?

Did you put the battery in the right side up


You will need to buy a new key/transponder at the dealer and program the new key.
If you have an old transponder thats still working, you can exchange the key shell with a new replica from either Ebay (rare) or Yahoo Japan
