iridium plugs - NGK or DENSO?

I've noticed a very slight misfire under light acceleration lately and it feels like my car ('94 SC400) just may need a tune-up. It's been 44K miles since my last tune-up and I'm running the Denso iridiums. Could I be reaching the end of their service life? I thought I might try the NGK's this time. Anyone else been running the Densos for awhile like me?

This is a fantastic question, 2 of the top JDM brands for plugs. Since the first time i ever tuned up my puch daytona moped when i was 14 back in the early 80's i've always bought NGK when it was time to change plugs. Im damm sure Denso is just as good but im a brand loyalty kinda guy.

The IX series of plugs are NGK's most advanced plug and co-incidentally their most expensive plug (in my neck of the woods anyway).
"Iridium IX Spark Plugs offer outstanding acceleration, high fuel efficiency and long life." As quoted directly from their website.

You will note that the plug quality appears to go from worst (at the top) to the best (at the bottom).

however i wouldn't say that quality goes from worst to best in that chart.
quality is different from longevity. the standard copper plugs actually give the best gas mileage and hp of any of those plugs, for reasons i don't want to get into unless someone wants to know, and they're the cheapest. i use ngk copper $2 plugs in my 400hp wrx and 300hp talons. they just don't last as long as platinums or iridiums so that's why they're not recommended. mfr's can claim longer tune up intervals that way.
i agree. any iridium in a standard engine should go 100k esp from denso or ngk.

I actually have gone with Bosche Iridium (Plat-Iridium Fusion) -- I will post any noticeable differences to the current plugs in the next few days when they are actually in use
