Just was told by a Lexus service advisor there isn't a fuel filter,just a screen at the tank that doesn't need service.
Also dealer won't give me new rotors like other have when doing the TSB brake pads.

The dealer is not obligated to replace the rotors.........
The TSIB only states that to replace the pads......

Yep,that's what he said.
I told him other dealers are doing a courtesy replacing of the rotors and he said they just will follow the TSB.
They will check the rotors.
I didn't ask if I have to pay to cut the rotors.
I guess I should of.
He also mentioned the less stoping power of the new pads.
He went on to say some have stayed with the brake dust issue for better stopping power.
My pads are on order.

Great,I'd appreciate it.
I can't get my in for a few reasons till my 9/18 appt.
Maybe sooner if things change.
I'm not too happy about having the rotors cut.
Warping may occur.
The rotors today are thin to begin with.

When I took mine in for the brake tsb they wanted to cut my rotors, I only had 12,000 miles on the car at that time and the service writer swore up and down that they needed to be cut, I asked them to mesaure the rotor runout and give me a call and then I wanted to come down and see the actual measurement being taken, shortly thereafter they called back and told me that the runout was within specs...but I knew that already. I truly believe that these are the pads that should have come on the car in the first place, in my instance braking performance has stayed the same.

There is a fuel filter. It's in the tank. You would be foolish to insist on replacing it unless you have hard evidence there is a problem.

brought it in sat.....

took about an hour to replace pads and driver side mirror....

asked about machining the rotor. the tech says my rotors are in good condition.....

the brakes are not "touchy" anymore and I think it's a good thing.

dont get "mislead" by others.....the brakes still performs very well when you need it

the only difference : NO MORE DUSTY RIMS!

now I can REALLY APPRECIATE how SILVER my rims are......

Thanks for the report.
My brake calipers make noise at times when slow braking.
I'll have them check that out also.
Looking forward to less dust.

5500 so far.....looking forward to seeing wayyyyyyyy less dust on my rims....

Less dust will be great!

I have just under 21K miles so they'll probably have to machine my rotors.
I wonder if Lexus warranty will cover that.
We'll see.

Hey lobux..

Quick question....
Do the internal Lexus fuel filters ever need service in their lifetime???
I never serviced my 2001 IS300 that 120K miles.

However, I used to own a 5.0 Mustang back in the day, and I would always change the external fuel filter every 15k-20k miles...
Every time I turned the filter upside down (reverse flow direction), all this silvery material/particles would come out with the fuel..
I always used Amoco 93 Ultra clear back in NY..

There is no scheduled maintenance for the fuel filter. If getting inside the tank is as challenging as a Supra, you'll never want to service the fuel pump or filter if you don't have to.
