Default Can you turn off/ deactivate the TPMS light?

I have a 04 gx that did not have tpms sensors on it when i bought it. I just put new cross terrains and factory oem rims on, but did not add sensors. Can the low pressure light be turned off. Or would you have 4 sensors added? Cost should run around $515 plus install at the dealer.

thx

I dont understand your question. If you dont have TPMS, how can u turn off something you dont have.
If you dont have TPMS, you cannot just add the sensor, you also need the TPMS computer too.

I think only the '03s were lucky enough to leave the factory without the TPM system. So since he has an '04 he should have the computer - sounds like he's just missing the $515 (gulp) sensors.

Thonks for the clearification. I think the TPMS is very nice to have, $515 would make me think twice though.

The computer is there just no wheel sensors, and for $500 + to make the little yellow tire low press light go off. It just seems a little ridiculous. Heck I only paid $754 for four mich. cross terrains last week at Costco.

I just want to know if I can turn off that annoying little light?

That $500 will do more than make the little yellow tire low press light go off, of course, you already know that.
As far as I know, there is no way to turn that TPMS light off.

Besides installing pressure transmiters in the wheels, is there something else the system takes care of that i have over looked?

I think what G Man meant was that the sensors could conceivably save your life - not just turn off an idiot light Have you tried doing a search for "TPMS" on the forum? With all the '04+ folks who've added aftermarket wheels I'd think this subject would have come up before. I would think you could just yank the bulb or the wire going into it from under the dash??

I believe someone have try looking for the fuse for the TPMS system and it was tie to other systems in the GX. If you had a wiring diagram, you maybe able to find that wire going to the light. I would think people would want a early warning TPMS on their car after the Firestone tire recall.

This has been something that bugs me too! I'm thinking when i get my GX from the shop, I'll remove the gauge cluster and see if i can just remove the bulb.

Dan.....

All you need to do is cut one wire and ground it.
