Cross referencing lexus/Toyota part #s
Hi. I have a 99 AWD Rx300 and I need to get some parts and would like to get them at my local Toyota dealer because it is close and I can get a really good deal from them. I have gone in and talked to them, but they can't or won't cross reference with Lexus part #s. Is there a website or database where I can do this? I'm looking for left and right front strut mounts with bearings and transmission filter & gasket. Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks

What do you mean by "strut mounts with bearings"? The strut mounts are just top parts of strut assembly, how did you damage them?
Just for the reference, each Front Strut Assembly consists of:
- Strut Mount ($48)
- Spring Seat ($18)
- Upper Spring Insulator ($18)
- Strut Bumper ($9)
- Coil Spring ($122)
- Lower Spring Insulator ($14)
- Strut itself ($138)
- Knuckle ($220)
There are no strut bearings! There are bearings in Wheel Hubs though.
Right Strut mount part# 48603-33021 ($48.08)
Left Strut mount part# 48609-33121 ($48.08)
Transmission Pan Gasket part# 35168-21010 ($7.45)
Transmission Filter part# 35330-06010 ($29.88)
You also need 5 quarts of Type T-IV ATF (~ $4 per quart)

I think he only asked for Pan Gasket and the Filter. BTW, filter can be reused, if washed and cleaned with compressed air.
Transmission Overhaul Kit 0435221011 $524.25
This kit includes all paper and rubber products, o-rings seals, metal clad seals, gaskets and clutch frictions (clutch steels kit is included).

Thanks for your help with the part #'s. However, there is a bearing that fits between the strut shaft and the mount. I just bought 2 of them
part # 90903-63014. And it is a true radial bearing with ball bearings in it. I didn't do anything to damage the mounts, they just deteriorate every so often in the rx300.

1999 RX300 (no strut bearing between the Mount [#12] and the Spring Seat [#11]):
2002 ES300 (#10 is the strut bearing):
bkim, you gave a great topic for DIY-guys! We learn a lot because of you. Thanks!

Hmmmm...The dealer could have brought up the wrong parts diagram for me. Either way I'm doing mine tomorrow, so I'll let you know! You mentioned that you would put one in if there wasn't one. Do you think it would be a benefit to install one if it doesn't originally have one? Thanks again for your help and putting up the diagram. Would you happen to have access to the torque values?

About the second part. Are you gonna do it yourself?
Which torque specs do you need?
I attached some of them in PDF, but I have all specs from ALLDATA.

This brings me to a somewhat related topic. When I need parts from the dealer, I go to the Toyota dealer, since the same part at the Lexus dealer is about 15% more expensive. The parts guys are always asking me for what car is this, and when I tell them a Lexus they seem not to like it, not sure why. Could someone tell me what year(s) Highlander would have the most common parts with an '01 RX?
Thank you
Thank you

There is a bearing, I replaced mine on my 99 RX300 several years ago. By the way the bearing comes with the mount at several aftermarket parts stores. Cost was around $43 per mount at NAPA

99AWD rx300 has bearings under the strut mount. Saw them myself
Mount replacement went well. Much quieter now. Everything was pretty straightforward, Used 3 strut compressors instead of just 2--felt safer.
