I plan on getting my IS tinted soon at California tint. They told me they use Johnson film, and quoted me for $120 with a lifetime warranty. I was wondering if any of you guys have experience with this type of film and if it lasts a long time against fading and turning purple.

It really depends... companies make all sorts of films... from high end films that cost like close to $300 to or more to tint a car. I'm not talking about ceramic films just regular metallic / non-metallic dyed films... and some that cost like $75 to tint the whole car. So you really have to ask what type of Johnson film they're using and then look it up and see how "good" the film is. Most companies say they "wont fade and will guarantee" it for life... so I take those words like grain of salt. My parents car's tint costed $160 done at Sprewell Racing and after 1.5 years its starting to fade... I can tell its not as dark as it was the first year it was on...
On the other hand on my E60 I took it to Wintech in Anahiem and the tint costed about $250 and it wasnt even their high end film I dont think... I think they had a better one and on top of that they had the option for Ceramic and that's been over 2 years and has not faded one bit. I somtimes wish it faded a little... its too dark.

I got mine tinted there with that film. As far as I can tell, it looks good. It's only been on for a little less than a year so I can't really tell you how much they fade or turn purple but I guess if they ever do I can just take in it with the lifetime warranty and tell them to replace it for free...

Are you satisfied with the quality of the install and would you recommend them to others? I'm most likely going to be going there because of the price and I don't want to have my door panels removed like at other places.
35/20 not dark enough for me but i'm too lazy to go get it retinted, and cops here are *****es, I'm lucky they haven't pulled me over yet. Pulled me over in my other 35 front tints.
