Default oil filter wrench for rx 350

Where can I get an oil filter wrench for an RX 350? When I ask at auto parts stores, they act like they never heard of it.

Did u try a NAPA store, they generally have everything. Have them get a filter from stock & then have them match up the wrench.

This is what I did. I walked up to the counter, ordered my favorite oil filter, the NAPA Extra Gold (wait - that's Coors. Ok, maybe NAPA Gold?) and asked for the filter wrench. THe guy walks up to a rack with the filter and grabs one for a test fit. This is a device that fits over the end of the filter like a cap and has a hole for a 3/8" socket hole. You can fit this over the filter just by feel and then insert a 3/8 extension and wrench.

Well, now that is interesting. Let's assume that there isn't a change in engines or oil filters between your 350 and my '05 330. My car takes a standard steel screw-on cartridge. If that is the case, I would return this paper filter and then run away from that parts store. If they have changed filter designs then you might want to call Lexus service and ask them. Frankly, I am guessing that your car takes a standard cartridge.

My biggest hassle in my first oil change was finding the &%3$ oil filter. Turns out that the Toyota/Lexus engineers hid it under the front exhaust pipe or the collector. I couldn't find it to save my life and I am an accomplished DIY kind of guy. I finally found it with help from this group. I now put the filter removal tool on by blind feel.

Let us know what happens.

I believe they take different types, guess you have to look 1st. Some of the very new ones may just take the new paper cartridge.

You may be right, but I just did a search at www.advanceautoparts.com and searched for a 2007 RX350 and a 2005 RX330 and both take the same oil filter. Of course, that isn't a definitive answer and there may well be different filters.

It was my understanding that the only difference betweent the model years was an increase in displacement. I guess I will have to check deeper.

The RX350 now uses the cartridge type filter and not the canister type like before. Same as the new IS/GS and probably new LS as well. It is similar to what the European brands use.

There's a little panel near the oil pan that need to be remove and the oil filter face directly down. It is in a different location than the 330. Good Luck!

I fond an oil change instruction for IS. Looks like it should apply to RX350 too.
