Default Pink Engine Coolant?

Hi,

I've made a wager with one of my Professors that Pink Engine Coolant does exist.
I did a bit of research and the most common kind of Pink Coolant is called Dex-Cool by GM.
It seems this version of coolant has a 100k mile life expectancy.

Now I hear the Dex-Cool stuff is really bad, but I need to get my hands on a bottle (preferably cheap) of Pink colored coolant.

Anyone have a source? Name? Brand? Cost? etc?

Thank you

I quick note on this subject. If you do get a bottle, DO NOT mix it with the green stuff in your car!!!

"An alternative to tradition green antifreeze is a product currently used by many engine manufacturers. "Orange" antifreeze is a long life or extended life type of antifreeze used to increase the useful life of engine coolant. It is ethylene glycol base as is the green antifreeze. The difference between the two colors is that orange antifreeze contains a different type of corrosion inhibitor that has a much longer service life than silicates, phosphates and borates. Orange antifreeze contains organic acids that protect engine parts from corrosion. Silicate (green) type antifreeze does not mix with orange type antifreeze. Never mix the two colors in a cooling system. The organic acids in orange types will cause precipitation of silicates in the green type and corrosion protection is greatly reduced. Orange type antifreezes are good for five years or 100,000/150,000 miles in newer vehicles (1996 and later). They can be used in many older vehicles (ask your vehicle dealer if it is safe to use orange antifreeze) if all of the green mixture is flushed from the system and is replaced with the orange mixture. Useful life is about four years or 60,000 miles in older cars."

Haven't really hear of any pink coolant. Like others have stated, I've seen the red Toyota coolant and even when diluted, it still isn't pink.

I know of a coolant additive that's pink. It's called 'Water Wetter' by Redline. Supposedly you add it to existing coolant thats in your car and it reduces your coolant temperature.

More information about 'Water Wetter' here

There are a few different coolants that are mixable with any other coolant color.

I was told by the guy in Toyota part department and my Toyota mechanic friend...They carry two different type of coolant, Red and pink
Pink is super long coolant, last for 100K miles
Red is just long life , can last up to 50K
Just different cap...

I have the pink one at home ( Toyota stuff). I am gonna post the pic tomorrow.

Hope this help

That is correct, my GX has the pink coolant in it and it is a 2004. Not supposed to be changed till 100,000 miles.

toyota's pink coolant is for toyota's newer cars (2004+) and is a pre-mixed formula... do NOT dilute this stuff...
toyota's red coolant is for everything up to 2003 and is concentrate and should be mixed 50/50 with water, depending on your climate...

different stuff... not interchangable
