Thanks for the feedback, RMMGS4...

Do you know what their policy on me supplying parts and them supplying the labor?

I don't mind buying parts through them if their markup is close ( 10-20%) to what I can get on the web. Any past exerience would be appreciated!

From my past experience, Exact markup is very reasonable (0-10%).
I got almost all my parts installed by Exact, and also my 90k service done by Exact. Very High quality work and service.

John and Sandy are awesome people to work with. You should give Sandy a call and tell her what you need done, etc. and have her give you a quote. They don't have a problem with you bringing your own parts to be installed, but you should give them a chance to at least quote you or match what you found on the internet.

They have done all the installations on all my mods...and there have been quite a few!!

Good luck! Make sure you tell them that ClubLexus referred you.

Unless things have changed, they are OK with you bringing in parts. I've done that before when I was still in NorCal.

Exact can also respond to this question themselves if they catch it.

They will install user supplied parts no problem, but just like anything, if the part should be faulty, they will charge you for the replacement labor.

If a timing belt or water pump are defective and Exact supplied you with the parts, they would replace it no charge. If the customer supplied the parts and the part was found defective, I think timing belt labor is more than $500.

How many bucks can you save on the internet for a timing belt versus the risk of paying replacement labor if it is found defective?

Paying a little more for parts from Exact versus the internet is cheap insurance if you ask me.

Right now there is a known defect with the S & S headers and labor to remove/replace is more than what the headers cost. S & S has been replacing the parts for free, but you are still out on labor. That's a no win situation and a risk that those of us with the mod bug are willing to take.

Now something like a cabin air filter is OK to get elsewhere. It all depends on what is worth the risk versus the savings.

There is nothing I hate more than getting a part purchased on the internet and then finding out the part is the wrong one after your car has already been taken apart by your mechanic.

And by the way Mike, how far do you drive to have Exact do all of your numerous mods ?

Roughly 45 miles ?

I just spoke with Exact. They inspected your headers and confirmed that they are the improved version, not the defective version.

You should be OK.

For all those who already have the "defective" version installed, my opinion is that this is a design related problem with the headers. It is not a situation to wonder "IF" your header will crack, but "WHEN" will it crack.

I have reviewed this problem with Exact and John has recommended a solution that we can pro-actively implement to prevent the header from cracking. This solution would be cheaper and less painful than removing the headers and replacing them.

I would not "WAIT" for your headers to crack, it will be too late by then.

Take preventative measures NOW and if you have headers already installed, give Exact a call on the mod that can be done to keep it from happening.

I just went to go pick up the car today and man I love the difference it made. . . Thanks Glen for calling to make sure my headers were welded before they installed it. . . I really appreciate that. . . I actually had my headers rewelded by John at Speed Dee Mufflers. . . but yeah thanks again Glen

I stumbled onto this thread while doing a google search for an unrelated topic but I must comment here.

John / Sandy at Exact are 100% standup guys. They are honest, trustworthy and I would hand him the keys to any of my cars (including my 200k Lambo) without hesitation.

amlin423 : Not saying you are lying but we all do miss things and I highly doubt John will not acknowledge a mistake.

As for Orlando, he's also a great guy to go with for tires/alignments since they work on my cars as well. Usually I let Exact do all my mechnical mods and Orlando to do my tires/alignments.

Just my 2 cents,
rick

So how many people have had regular tune ups done on their Lexus at Exact? Please list more experiences about regular maintenance.

Urmil,
a lot of veteran CL members (3-5 years) aren't on the forums much now a days so they might not catch this post. You can do a search for Exact and find a few posts.

I'll be there today at 1pm to meet up for a late lunch with a couple of members actually.

You would be surprised how often some people hang over there whenever one of us is having servicing done.

We're not meeting for lunch until after 1pm. Probably eat somewhere around the corner.

Call me if you still might want to come down and if we are still there.
