Cool. Jeremy, I'd suggest try to be in the University area of Charlotte (zip is 28269 if you want to mapquest for timing) no later than 10:15 if you want to be there when it starts. Later is OK too if you want to sleep a little later but we probably won't stay there for the entire thing.

Dave, I've gotten a few messages about possibly meeting up at the same Harris Teeter parking lot as last year and then we all roll in at around 10:30. Do you think that maybe this is a possible route to go if you and mike could maybe say go to the actual meeting spot at around 10:00 or so and set up and by the time we all arrive at the meeting spot, you guys would be already to go and done with setting up. Does this sound good?

Only if you don't want a parking spot I think this years event is going to be much bigger (assuming the weather holds) and we should meet up at the actual meet lot a bit early.

If you and others want to roll in together that's cool, but I personally would like some help getting setup and make sure we have our cars parked together.

I'll bring multiple tents again and I suggest EVERYONE BRING CHAIRS!!

I will of try to park by marque and by model, as usual.

Also, maybe we should rollcall who wants to bring drinks/snacks and some of us can bring coolers, etc...

Last year they had an expensive hotdog stand... yuck....

Vu,

Thought of one way we could accomplish a little of both.... Be at that lot at 10:10AM, we'll drive through the lot on the way into the meet to pick up anyone there who wants to roll in with us. No stopping and chatting, just organize who is there and roll out.

If folks aren't there in time, then just plan to meet us at the main lot at the meet.

I'm good either way really, just would like to make sure we scope out and get our spots (and places for pop ups) early on.

That's a good idea Dave. What I'm going to say is if people who wish to meet up a little earlier, meet at the harris teeter parking lot at around 9:50 or so and be prepare to leave at 10:10 when you guys come. So I guess that I can be there at 9:45 or so that day and wait for those to want to meet up.

I wanted to put together a quick and dirty map of the meet spot for those not familiar with the area.

Here's the pre-meetup spot at the Harris Teeter 'upper deck' parking lot - intersection of WT Harris and Mallard Creek Rd (click on link for a closer up version if you need it)
Click for a slightly bigger version of the map below

and where the actual February Fling meet will be held in reference to the pre-meetup spot

Slightly bigger version

Following is some Q&A I asked the organizers about the meet I thought I'd share.

1) What happened to the charity aspect of this event? Was it simply accidently edited out of the main post? Do the proceeds of the entrance fees (I assume beyond the actual costs of the porta-johns, signage, etc) still go to the American Breast Cancer Society?
AS FOR THE CHARITY ASPECT OF THE FUNDS RAISED AT THE 3RD ANNUAL FEBRUARY FLING, ALL REVENUE BEYOND EXPENDITURES FOR MAKING THE SHOW HAPPEN, WILL BE DONATED. ALL MONEY WILL BE DONATED TO THE AMERICAN BREAST CANCER FOUNDATION. ALL RAFFLE MONEY WILL BE DONATED TO CHARITY. ITS ONLY THE ENTRANCE FEE THAT WILL BE USED FOR SHOW COSTS.

2) Is the $2 Entry per person or per vehicle?
ENTRANCE FEE IS $2.00 EACH MALE, WOMEN FEES ARE WAIVED, BECAUSE ITS FOR ALL WOMEN. EACH PERSON THAT ENTERS GETS ONE RAFFLE TICKET. EACH ADDITIONAL TICKET (FOR BREAST CANCER) WILL BE $3.00….
WE HAVE RAFFLE TICKETS AND WILL NOT BE NEEDING THOSE.

There was some additional discussion about what the cost for a hermaphrodite would be that is not yet resolved.

3) I see a comment that the raffle is 'large' but only see one item listed (a Stage 1 ECU Flash). What are the expected raffle items and their value? I suspect for those non-VW-owning attendees, if we win some item specific to VW or Audi we might want to sell it during the meet.
WE ARE STILL TRYING TO GATHER A LIST FROM ALL VENDORS WE WILL HAVE THAT POSTED AND WILL ANNOUNCE DURING AND THROUGH OUT THE SHOW. WE ALSO HAVE SOME T-SHIRTS FROM THE FLING THAT I AM HAVING MADE UP, WHICH WILL BE ADDED. PEOPLE ARE WELCOME TO BRING PARTS FOR THE SWAP MEET.

PEOPLE ARE MORE THAN WELCOME TO SELL ANY ITEMS THAT THEY WANT AT THE SHOW AND ALL ARE WELCOME TO SET UP TABLES AND HAVE AN ALL OUT SWAP MEET FOR PART IF THEY FEEL SO INCLINED TO DO SO.

4) Who is doing tinting this year? and can we contact them to ask questions about the brand of tint they'll have, etc? Are there timeslots to sign up for?
WE ARE WAITING ON A DEFINATE CONFIRMATION FROM 2 BUSINESSES AND WILL POST PRICES SOON.

IN OTHER NEWS:

THE PEOPLE’S CHOICE AWARD WILL BE FOR A FIRST AND SECOND CHOICE, I HAVE SPECIAL CUSTOM MADE TROPHIES BY A LOCAL ARTIST …. AND THEY ARE AMAZING!!!!! EACH CAR ATTENDING WILL RECEIVE A CARD WITH A NUMBER, AFTER FILLING OUT INFO AT THE GATE. THE CARD WILL BE PLACED IN THE FRONT WINDOW. THIS NUMBER WILL BE THE WAY WE VOTE FOR THE AWARDS.
