Default fender roll

Joseph,
Wanted to go a little lower, about another .75 in. Currently 1 finger gap all around. I have Tein CS with 20s all around. Just looking for a shop that does fender roll or shaving. I can go to any bodyshop but was looking for recommendation from a CL members.

I would recommend One Ton Garage in Santa Clara. They did my fenders just recently and he did a GREAT job. He was even able to fix my front fender that I messed up, twice. He's actually putting together Jay's car from Drift Unit at the moment so hopefully he can fit you into his schedule. Go to their website and shoot Van an email. He is VERY knowledgeable about what type of offsets that you can fit and all. Tell him that Anna with the IS sent you.

I would suggest contacting Exact Motorsports (www.exactmotorsports.com) in Milpitas to get a quote. I always take my car to them for maintenance and pretty much any kind of service.

I recommend One Ton Garage located in Santa Clara. He's a bit pricey but his work is definitely worth it. He is the one who put together Jay's car from Drift Unit (silver S14) and he also rolled my fenders.

Most of us shave fenders instead of rolling. If you are just rubbing by say 1/4 inch, shaving is easier and cheaper.

John over at Exact has shaved fenders for several members in the past.

You can do a search in the GS section on shaved fenders that I have posted. I've done about 7 cars myself over the years.

I've had my fenders rolled once on my SC and the place that did it (out of business now) created some strange dent looking like creases along the edge. Plus, my paint started cracking. Definitely have someone who knows what they're doing do this for you. I only paid $75. I'm certain getting a quality guy would cost double or triple now

I am getting my fenders rolled at Angel autobody in Milpitas. You can also find many other body shops that will get it done.

This is exactly why I suggest shaving instead of rolling. The 1st gen IS, SC and GS have double thickness sheetmetal in the rear fender area so cracking, uneven bending are easy to happen if a pro doesn't do the work.

For the front fenders on all lexus models, the sheetmetal thickness is only single thickness so rolling those lips makes sense, but you still have to be careful with rolling. On the 2nd gen IS250/350 the rear sheetmetal is thinner so you could roll the lip on the 2nd gen ONLY.

SO to REPEAT, it is not recommended to roll the lips on the above models. Shaving is easier and cheaper if you pay EXACT to do the work. You can roll lips on a Honda /Acura, but we are talking Lexus here.

Do note that you still have to be carefull for either process, but the shaving makes the most sense in the rear by far.

I don't need to convince anyone who has seen the shaving work and felt the inner lip on my GS. I have 20 x 11 rims with 295 size tires and absolutely NO RUBBING, because I was able to get more clearance by shaving instead of rolling.

If anyone has questions or concerns about shaving please post. Me, solo, redgs4, jawnthen, rominl, Neo and many other long time members have all our shaved fenders, and have been fielding these questions on CL for over 5 YEARS now, but will be happy to respond if asked.

This is also the preferred method in the Supra community. Rolled rears especially tend to look bad, and there's actually quite a bit of metal that can be removed to fit wider tires and wheels. I've seen 315's on 11" rims with just a prudent trimming on the fenders.
