It's NOT in the glove box on the IS250 or IS350. The nav DVD is located BEHIND the clock face that is below the nav screen. There are two small holes to access it. There is a tool that comes with the IS to do this. You pop the face off and then eject the disc via the nav interface. Do a search, you'll find pics and links...
It's in the bag next to the spare tire. The little trapazoid pouch with the key to the wheel lock. Once you open it, look at the middle (hinge) . It's very well hidden. It took me a while to figure out where it was.
Seems that this is not exactly a fix. Some functionality enhancements require a firmware update. If you use the 05 series load file, you aren't going to be able to benefit from some of the fixes. This just allows you to use the map data and maintain the software bypasses.
To what fixes and functionality enhancements are you specifically referring?
I'm assuming he is referring to the fixes in TSB EL013-06. With the new load file, I'm able to see and lock about double the number of satellites at any given time.
That's why I'm asking - to be sure there isn't something else I'm missing by keeping my 1600 (not 1550 or 1650) firmware version. If there is additional functionality greater than maintaining lock on the birds, I'd like to know. I'm not (and never have been) having an issue with locking on multiple satellites at all.

So are you saying we may gain the override while moving feature but definitely lose the gps accuracy?

Even worse, I was having episodes where the number of usable satellites dropped below four, turning off the GPS indicator on the screen. If it stayed in that state for long enough, the system would eventually become completely confused, showing me driving through cornfields or even out into the ocean.
Before switching to the old version of the software, read the early posts in this thread: https://www.clublexus.com/forums/sho...d.php?t=230294 to see the kind of problems that some users of the older software were having. For some reason, never definitively determined (heat problem? atmospheric conditions?), most of us with the problem had the most trouble during the hot summer months.
I haven't seen the version history but I'm sure there are some bluetooth and phone compatibility fixes, maybe some additional voice commands etc... included as well. Some of these fixes would not make it in with the method described because you need the 06.1 loader.
Maybe a better way of confirming is to see if anyone that has the 05.1 loader with the 06.1 disc has the autorecirc fix functioning. If it isn't, there is a clear indication that the workaround just enables you to use newer map data and maintain the shortcuts.
I'm not trying to minimize anyones work so far, we all appreciate it, but I think the benefits need to be further explored/explained.
As with all firmware fixes, if you aren't experiencing any problems, don't worry about it...
There are 100s of people on this forum with 2006 ISx50s, who have the V5.1 disc and have ZERO problems... Using this method is just like having a 2006 ISx50, no difference...
If you are having problems, then use the newer firmware and lose the override...
Or, do what I did and install an override switch + the newer firmware...
