FYI, I found this informational diagram on general belt maintenance, involving the V-belt, serpentine and timing belts. This was sourced from the Dayco products website. Very helpful for us DIY'ers

I may be mistaken, but ,a GS430 has a serpentine belt and no V-belt?

Tammy is right. The GS430 has a serpentine belt, not a V-belt. In order to remove the existing belt, you'd have to unscrew the bolt at the center of the belt tensioner, which then releases tension holding the drive belt, and then you can remove the belt itself. I believe this removal process is universal among all car models.

For your reference, in the GS430 pic below, #1 is the serpentine belt, and #2 is the belt tensioner.

Same method but instead of turning the tensioner pulley counterclockwise like on the V8s, you turn it clockwise. Once it's turned, you can just slip out the belt. Very easy installaion. I rather do this all day than do oil changes

BTW..i changed this on my car a few days ago using GoodYear Gatorback belts. Its designed to decrease noise and squeeks, while promoting longer belt life. I can honestly say this belts is better than OEM, while costing a few bucks less. My car is finally quiet (at least for a V8 ). I use to have squeeks in the morning and my belt would over power my stock exhaust noise. LOL!

After 126,000 miles in the ES, I decided it was time to change out the drive belt that drives the A/C compressor and the alternator. The squealing noise that's emitted every morning when I start the car is getting bothersome, but after changing the old belt out with the Goodyear Gatorback belt, the difference is very noticeable. Not only is the belt area more quiet, the air conditioning feels much cooler than before I'm sure it has a lot to do with the integrity and durability of the new belt. Plus, the old belt has numerous small cracks and minuscule pieces missing across the ribs. It was definitely that time to change the belt, and the job only lasted 20 min. All you need are 10 and 12mm sockets and wrenches of different lengths.
