What exactly does changing the headers do? I've been thinking about doing this mod but I don't know what difference it's going to make.

I have the same setup (OBX). I agree with Mikal, I would get the heat shield. It's going to look cool when your headers turn blue, red and gold.

Just a small question. Why do you still need the o2 sensors in the header if you got an o2 simulator? Isn't the whole point of the o2 sim so that you can remove the o2 sensors without trowing a cel? Also, how is the power improvement? Big difference?

Edit: Ok, nevermind....lol I feel like a fool now. I see that you still have the o2 sensor in place pre-cat. The sim is post-cat(or at least where it used to be ). Makes sense

Actually, you were on to something there. I couldnt remove any of the three O2 sensors so I replaced all of them but I am only using one of them. So the other two have been snipped and are simply there to fill the hole to the tune of $70 a piece. I guess I could have gone to Lexus and ask to dig around in their trash for some but I really didnt care. The O2 simulator wires directly into the ECM which is shown in one of the last several pictures.

i just put the same header on my 02 gs300, but the "y" pipe was totally wrong. too short, not angled right and the o2 sensor hit the heat shield. did you experience this and if so what solution did you come up with? right now i have just the header on and the stock "y" pipe until i figure out a solution. also did you use the gaskets they gave you or replace them with the factory lexus gaskets? sorry about all the question, but i'm just kinda stuck.

I sold the Y-pipe a while back after realizing it was too short and the exhaust places around in Alabama dont have the proper metal to extend it. I used the supplied gaskets for the block and replaced the "donut" gaskets at the Y-pipe with OEM Lexus ones, only $6.20.

OK....where are the sound clips?

Honestly, do you feel any difference in HP or torque with the new header?
