Coilover lifespan?

Hey guys I am looking to buy some Tein HA's and a guy has some with 14k miles on them. Should I be looking away because they are too old? How much more life do you think that they have?

14K should be okay, but you also need to check if the shocks are in good condition, check if there are any oil leaks, rust, ...

check "for sale" forum, i have Tein Flex with 6K on it for about 1K, they are not stiff as HA

I would pick those up in a heartbeat if they were 400 bucks cheaper! Sorry man

So how much life you think they will have?

for what it's worth - FutureGS400 has had his Tein CS setup for 40,000 miles.

hmm.. is that the longest someone has had coils? wow i thought that tein's would last like the lifetime of the car or something.. hmmm interesting stuff

i asked the tein reps the same question they explained to me that there race team goes an entire season of racing before having them rebuilt so ..he stated to me that they should go 50-60k of normal wear before the first rebuild in my opinion thats pretty darn good !!

Actual life depends on many factors, including how you are going to use these and what your road condition is. When the roads are smooth then the life will be longer.

If we are going to auto-x then life will be less.

Also not that the Tein HA are made of painted steel and will rust.

Racing coilovers are differently built and in general racing coilovers will require maintenance, many rebuilds and/or revalving since each track is different. Racing coilovers will have different seals, bigger pistons, ...

The purpose for racing coilovers is winning races

yup i agree. EVERY time they tune and rebuild the kits for that particular track. no way they just blindly use a set of coilovers, they will lose the season for sure
