]]> These new 2014 IS commercials are a huge departure from Lexus' 24 year history. Instead of focusing solely on the car, elements of fashion and design create an abstract look to help stand out from any ordinary car commercial. These new TV spots are stylish and youthful as they focus more on design. It is an integral part of Lexus' new direction and will help outreach to a new and untapped demographic. The all-new 3rd generation IS is already in production and will be arriving at dealerships in July. In the meantime check out the commercials below:

We know it's only a matter of time when Lexus will finally release a true two door Lexus coupé to satisfy our needs. We hope this future IS coupe will offer a fuel efficient entry variant, a mid range version and a top line F version. A hybrid version wouldn't hurt either. 

So far TMC has trademarked "RC F" and "RC 350" for a possible future Lexus model. We've envisioned what a power house F coupe could look like. Let's hope Lexus can follow through and have a real answer for Europe's finest.

Some say that what you drive is a reflection of your personality, but some say otherwise.  This time they feature heavy metal guitarist Scott Ian of Anthrax and his third Lexus RX.

Mr. Ian talks about his love for the Lexus RX and how it has everything he needs in a car. He shares their 2013 RX with his wife in a one car household and will rent a Prius on occasion if needed. He explains that he's on his third Lexus RX since 2007 and will continue to come back.

Toyota Motor Sales USA, Inc. has announced a voluntary recall on 2010 model year Lexus HS 250h and 2010 Toyota Prius. The voluntary recall involves a brake pressure accumulator that may develop a fatigue crack due to vibration.

Lexus has announced a partnership with the Tony Hawk Foundation to create a fan-based decal to affix on the IS F CCS-R. The Circuit Club Sports Racer will compete in the Exhibition Class of the Pikes Peak International Hill Climb for the second time by pro driver Ken Gushi.]]> The fan based decal will include Facebook fans that enter their name on a Lexus Facebook post. The decal will carry 14,000 fan names that will be affixed on the IS F CCS-R  and its 14,100 foot climb up this famed peak. Because of Lexus commitment to the community,  the will be donating a brand new 2014 Lexus IS to the Tony Hawk Foundation.

Coincidentally, these two sedans   were the first Lexus models that came out and shattered records nearly 25 years ago.

]]> With the 2014 IS coming soon, Lexus is determined to continue as the number one selling luxury brand in the United States. The ES and the RX continue to be the Lexus' sales leaders. On an interesting note only 1 LFA was sold in May.

Not very many super cars can make the claim of being reliable and durable for 30k miles. Ever since the arrival of P014 back in 2010, it's been driven hard since day one. Only regular maintenance has been required as the LFA still flexes hard after numerous track days, test drives and car shows throughout the United States. ]]> The article discusses the "F" marque and how it initiated. In the Asia Pacific market, Lexus is slowly emerging and finally putting a dent in the luxury car market in that region. Singapore-based SG CarMart had a chance to sit down with Lexus to talk F and F SPORT.  SGCM asked Mr. Edmondson about why F SPORT was created and asked if it would steer customers away from the luxurious and quiet cars they're known for. According to Mr. Edmondson on F SPORT:

"It's more like another golf club in your bag, if you will. It's something you can have fun with during the weekends."

As the F and F SPORT line up continues to expand, Lexus is working on strengthening the image and dynamics of their vehicles. Aside from just luxurious and quiet, they are also capable of building fun to drive and dynamic cars as well. The IS F, LFA, GS F SPORT and the new IS F SPORT are prime of Lexus new direction and attitude in building luxury vehicles.

 Automotive rendering wiz Theophilus Chin has worked his magic once again and created a modern version of the defunct IS SportCross. It's been told there are no plans to develop a 3rd generation IS Sport Cross but there's always curiosity this car would look like in different configurations.

]]> He's also done renderings of what a new generation IS F sedan and coupe could look like. One could imagine that a new IS SportCross would have the typical Luxury and F SPORT version, but what about a V8 powered F version? Now that would be one interesting anti-SUV like the Cadillac CTS-V Wagon. 

We know a "wagon" variant would be a slow seller in the IS line up but with the right ingredients, it could be a trendsetter. We're still waiting for that long overdue coupé as we would prefer to see that first before a convertible. For now we'll have to wait and leave things to the imagination.

Lexus Europe recently hosted their press preview of the 2014 IS to the European journalists. A list of colors and options have officially been published for the new IS. Most notable are the availability of LED fog lamps and leather seating for F SPORT, the availability of cloth seating and the and the option of Ultrasonic Blue (8U1) in the color palette.

]]> The colors are a bit more expansive than what's available in the United States. Two seating surfaces are available for the Europe IS. A new Fabric/Tahara Trim and Leather. NuLuxe is not available in the European market. Exterior colors are mainly carry over from the outgoing 2013 IS with the addition of Sonic Titanium a.k.a. Atomic Silver (1J7). Ultrasonic Blue (8U1) is also an available color which is no longer offered for the U.S.A. Bamboo wood trim is available but for the IS 300h only.

2014 IS Europe Colors:

 

Because the Lexus Europe market encompasses several countries, not all all options or packages will be available in certain countries. Lexus Europe will only offer the IS 250 and IS 300h due to strict emissions standards in their region. There are a total of 6 option packages and one being exclusive to the new IS 300h:

  • ECO (IS 300h only)
  • EXECUTIVE
  • EXECUTIVE PLUS
  • F SPORT
  • LUXURY

Being that the new third generation is the most global Lexus IS ever, it also carries a long list of options. We're a bit disappointed with how the options and colors are distributed, but we hope changes can be made so that all options and features are available globally.
