How-To Tuesday: It’s Grilling Season
They say that summertime is Grilling Season, but when you’ve got an older-looking grille on your Lexus, there’s never a bad time to change it out for an eye-catching aftermarket example.
But how the heck do you go about such a procedure? Well, today’s How-To Tuesday article — aptly titled “Lexus IS/GS: How to Remove Grille” — is here to help. The article specifically applies to Lexus IS and GS vehicles between 2005 and 2013, but it should be a helpful starting point for anyone interested in undertaking such a mod. And though the grille itself may cost you a few hundred bucks, you’ll save money by doing it yourself.
This is a relatively easy mod, which should only take you about 30 minutes of your time. The hardest part is making sure not to break the little plastic bits or to scratch your bumper. And the only tools you’ll need are a 10mm socket, a wrench, and pliers.
After that, it’s just six easy steps to grilling supremacy: just remove all the engine covers and the weather stripping, pull the bumper attachment tabs, remove the grille and the inner grille bezel, then reverse the steps to install the new grille. It’s as simple as that. And the article will walk you through every step of the way.
So what are you waiting for? That grille of yours isn’t going to change itself out.
