How-To Tuesday: Fixing Your Lexus’ Malfunctioning Interior Lights
Let’s shed a little light on the subject of your interior lights, namely, why they won’t turn on or off.
This week’s How-To Tuesday article and the corresponding video below will help you figure out why your interior lights are malfunctioning, and how to fix the problem.
First things first: don’t freak out. Just because your interior lights aren’t behaving as they should, that doesn’t necessarily mean it’s a bigger electrical problem. Often times it’s as simple as a broken component.
Instead of taking your car directly into the shop, this week’s How-To suggests going through a few simple steps, beginning with changing out the LED bulb. A burnt out bulb is the number one culprit behind malfunctioning interior lights, and replacing them is not hard at all, as spelled out in the article.
If changing out the bulb doesn’t fix the problem, it’s time to move onto the fuse box, which can be found under the driver side’s dashboard. You’re going to be dealing with fuse#8 in Lexus IS, GS, ES, and RX models between 2004-2014. Check your owner’s manual if that’s not you.
Finally, if you’re still having the problem, look for faulty door switches, which are located in the door. The switches tell the car’s computer if the door is closed.
