Teen Arrested After Stealing Lexus and Going on Crime Spree
If you’re going to go on a burglary spree, you really ought to have a good getaway car, right?
Perhaps that’s what Ali Dukes was thinking when he stole a gray Lexus in Deerfield Beach, Florida on September 16th. Or at least maybe that’s what he was thinking before getting arrested, ten days later.
Dukes apparently had been making the rounds of neighboring Pompano Beach in the stolen car, as he was caught with goods linking him to four homes within a mile of each other. The goods included jewelry, credit cards, check books, electronics, and a semi-automatic pistol, according to the Sun Sentinel.
As if the 18-year-old with a previous juvenile record wasn’t going to be in enough trouble, upon being spotted in the stolen car, Dukes tried to run, and ended up crashing that poor Lexus. He then tried to flee on foot, only to be run down by deputies.
Obviously Dukes didn’t get too far, and now he’s being charged with burglary of a dwelling, grand theft, driving without a valid driver’s license, and leaving the scene of a traffic crash. And nope, it doesn’t like like he’ll be driving any more Lexus getaway cars anytime soon, or any cars for that matter, as he’s being held without bail.
