BALTIMORE, Maryland – Team Lexus – Performance Engineering finished second in the Motorola Cup season opener at the Daytona International Speedway.

As in 2000, the Team set a new track record and started from the pole position. The morning race on Friday, February 2, boasted an entry list of nearly 80 cars. Driving the #0 GS 400, Chuck Goldsborough and Terry Borcheller took the checkered flag only a few seconds behind the class winner. “Our guys did a fantastic job..we were leading the race to the half way point, when the rain clouds opened up, allowing the front wheel drive Acura to sneak by.” said Ray Rachuba, Team exus crew cheif. “Chuck was able to hold onto him, but could not put the power down to get around him”.

At the start of its third season of competition, Team Lexus has earned eight podiums in only twenty events. The team gave Lexus its first ever motorsports victory in September of 1999 and they currently hold three track records.
