#TBT: Relive the LS 400, Before Lexus Discovered Creases
The search is over. We’ve officially found the most velvety voice to ever grace an automobile video. The discovery comes courtesy of the 1995 Lexus LS 400 “Introduction VHS” video below, and it’s magnificent.
Back in the marque’s early years, the LS 400 was Lexus’s direct shot at BMW, Mercedes, Audi, and Jaguar. The car was understated and classy in a simple way, it had a bullet-proof V8 engine, its finish was exceptional, and its price-point was damn near untouchable. Plus it had electrochromatic mirrors, and “gratifying agility thanks to its reduced turning circle.” Automobile mag described it as “refined as silk and deliciously well built.”
The gems in this video are endless, and all the while, you feel like you should be sinking into a plush leather seat and focusing on the finer things in life. It’s like automotive meditation through advertising, which, when you think about it, just sounds like brain-washing. We’ll allow it for this car though.
