Shut the RC F Up and Drive Through the Prettiest Twistiest Canyon Ever
Watching two amazing drivers doing battle is a glory to behold, no matter what the car, no matter what the road. But it becomes all the more glorious when it’s the 2015 RC F flogged along the most brilliant backcountry road I’ve seen since Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid.
But Shut Up and Drive, the Lexus sponsored Fox Sports show, doesn’t stop there. Oh no. As you see in the video below, they also close the road down so that each stud driver — Justin Bell and new host, Rhys Millen — can have Colorado Highway 141 all to himself, free of cops, slow drivers, and bicyclists wearing odd outfits.
Oh, the twisty wonders such an awe-inspiring road holds. In an RC F? Are you kidding me? That would make this kid from Colorado a very happy man. Thing is, even though I’m from Colorado, I’ve never heard of this road, with its “precarious cliffside ‘Hanging Flume,’ where guardrails are nonexistent,” as the YouTube description says.
According to Autoblog, who came along for the shoot, the canyon is near Paradox, Colorado, which is quite the incongruity, because I’ve never heard of such a town. But apparently it’s 30 miles south of Gateway, home of Gateway Canyons Resort & Spa, which is an auto enthusiast’s oasis started by the guy who discovered the Discovery Channel.
However the heck they got there, it’s one darn beautiful place to be. And the RC F driven to perfection makes it all the more beautiful.
