The accident happened  earlier this week in a Claremont, California parking lot. How does something like this happen?

One witnesses said it started when the Accord backed out it's parking spot and into another car. He then stopped, and threw the car into forward gear and took off. Police say he then ran into a handicapped sign which launched his car onto the roof of the SC.

Mr. Kamitsuka, the driver of the Accord, says that didn't happen. Instead, he says his accelerator pedal got stuck and sent him careening into the sign.

Why didn't he hit the brakes? Or pull the key? And how in the world was the handicapped sign strong enough to act as a ramp? We'll likely never know the answer to any of these questions. Though we've got to give credit where credit is due, the SC held up pretty well with the full weight of a car on it's roof.
