RC F Lights Up In Tune With Driver’s Heartbeat
Lexus is very much in the midst of slowly blowing our minds with this new hoverboard they’re creating for a seemingly tangential marketing campaign. But why stop there? The pursuit of perfection knows no bounds. Indeed, bounds had very little to do with this RC F whose panels light up in time with the driver’s heartbeat.
Yes, you read that right.
Last week, Ford made waves by submitting a patent for luminescent body parts. But a team from Lexus Australia has actually covered an RC F in panels adorned with electroluminescent paint, which glow when stimulated by an electric charge created by the driver’s heartbeat, as you can see in the video below.
“The paint is connected to an electronics set-up, which in turn is fed data by a range of sensors attached to the body of the driver — each terrifying corner or moment of acceleration is captured and fed back into the pulsating paint job.”
A heart-powered pulsating Lexus! And a hoverboard! What’s next? Please say flying cars! Please say flying cars!
At first glance, this may seem like just a show car. But the team at Lexus didn’t just spend six months building this crazy concept for SEMA. Besides the obvious marketing appeal, the developers can also see future benefits for linking car and driver, including managing stress levels, tiredness, and driving habits.
Though neither the hoverboard or the heartbeat car seem to have much to do with the luxury automobiles that Lexus is currently producing, who really cares? If you can afford to develop a hoverboard with a heartbeat paint job, then by all means, build THAT hoverboard. Make dreams come true. Wow people. Odds are good they’ll remember as much the next time they buy a car.
