Omotenashi Influences Every Aspect of Lexus
You may not have heard of it, but omotenashi — “the Japanese spirit of hospitality that anticipates and fulfills people’s needs” — influences every last move Lexus makes. Think of it as a mission statement, but in spiritual form.
That quote comes directly from Lexus, so take it as the spirit of marketing too. But knowing what we do about Lexus quality, and learning what they’re laying down about omotenashi, it’s hard to imagine such quality craftsmanship and design without such a guiding principle.
You can see it in not just the quality of the cars, but also in the extraordinary efforts at the dealership too. There’s a reason Lexus dealerships keep winning awards. Because from the top down, Lexus is determined to treat customers like guests.
That means anticipating what customers are going to want. Like a guiding sequence for interior lighting, electric windows that slow near the top to reduce noise, or the smart power tailgate that lets you open the trunk without taking out your keys.
Those are just a few of the omotenashi-influenced touches. But you get it. Lexus really, really works at making you, the customer, happy. It seems like they’re doing a pretty good job of it. Don’t you think?
