Rumors of the GS-F Rise Once Again

Lexus has really been stoking the fires lately, with hints of a performance coupe from their UK blog, and now this. Product planning chief, Karl Schlicht, says he would love to build a high performance GS-F. The debut of a super coupe would go a long way towards improving Lexus’ image. It would also probably be really, really, fun.

Of course, there’s no details on the power-train, but the word on the street is this fantasy GS-f could be powered by a detuned version of the LFA’s 4.8L V10. The GS-F would be different, with the V10 being tuned with an emphasis on low-end torque. This is probably a good idea, considering the LFA’s V10 is fairly high-strung similar to race car. In all likely-hood Lexus learned from BMW’s last M5, which while good, was criticized for lacking torque. At least in comparison to Mercedes AMG line.

If true, this will more than make up for the lack of a V8 in the upcoming GS. While the V6 is a powerful and responsive motor, more power is almost never a bad thing. Here’s to hoping!
