The 2010 Lexus HS 250h is considered a premium compact hybrid sedan and is the company’s first “dedicated” hybrid, as well as the first to offer an inline (I4) gasoline engine. Unveiled at the 2009 North American Auto Show, the 2010 Lexus HS 250h is fashioned after the 3rd generation Toyota Avensis with 4-doors and a 5-person seating capacity – the basic Lexus hybrid architecture.
Design & Technology
The front-engine, front wheel drive, 187 HP 2010 Lexus HS 250h sports a
2.4L Inline-4, 16-valve, double overhead cam, permanent magnet motor
system engine powered by an electric motor/battery drive. Other cars
that enlisted the front-forward layout are the 1931 DKW F1, 1948
Citroen 2CV, 1949 Saab 92, and 1959 Mini.
The 2010 HS 250h also has a long list of features: infotainment master
controller, standard 4-wheel disc brakes with ABS, Lexus; antiskid
traction control system, front/curtain/side/front knee airbags, keyless
entry, keyless start-up, blue-tinted head and tail lamps, a
state-of-the-art pre-collision system, adaptive lighting, and a
dual-screen DVD system that is designed to interface with navigation
and audio systems.
The 2010 Lexus HS 250h has been compared to the 2010 Toyota Prius and
is known for its luxury, customer service, roominess, city-friendly
exterior, high-tech cabin, fuel economy, modest size, conservative
styling and, of course, Lexus’ famous brand cachet.
But it is also dubbed "The Prius for the country club set" and "The
Prius with a trunk". Lexus further goes green with the materials in the
2010 HS 250h; 30% of its interior and luggage compartment covered with
carbon-neutral, plant-based, bio-plastic.
