New Lexus ES Debuts in China
With much of the Lexus lineup getting either a refresh or a full-on rebuild, many had forgotten about the often over looked Lexus ES. Based on the Toyota Camry, it’s the smallest of the Lexus bunch, and definitely one of the cheapest forms of luxury you can buy. Still, she was in need of a perk-me-up, so at this year’s Shanghai Auto Show, the refreshed ES was unveiled. Here we have our first official glimpse of the 2016 Lexus ES300h and ES200.
While still based on the Camry, the new ES gets a whole host of new features and exterior stylings. First off, the new ES features a sportier looking grille and all new Lexus design language headlights. Additionally, a new chrome license plate and chrome rectangular exhaust all make for a much sleeker physique. With that new sleek exterior, Lexus also announced four new exterior colors and new trims on the interior.
Enhancements to the chassis and ride quality also make it into the new ES. First off, there are new structural reinforcements that help lend itself to better ride quality and handling. The ES also receives further sound deadening material to help insulate the cabin even more.
Where the ES didn’t get an update was in the engine department, which stays with the ES’s current lineup of engine choices.
The new Lexus ES will be available later this year.
