2013 LS Pursues the Perfect Steering Wheel

Lexus’ motto has been “Pursuing Perfection” since they’ve had a motto to go by. It’s easy to forget about it when the bulk of their most recent news is about major redesigns and surface improvements. They haven’t forgotten though. It shows in the new LS. Take their steering wheel for instance.


They call the material “shimamoku” which is Japanese for striped wood. It takes three vendors, 67 different process, and 38 days for it to make from the veneering stage to a fully finished wheel. Now, that’s attention to detail. If there’s anything that Lexus does well, it’s that.
