Lexus Sends HS 250h Riding into the Sunset

So long HS 250h, we hardly new you. Apparently, no else did either, as sales of the hybrid sedan were low enough for Lexus to justify killing the line completely. Sales of the compact hybrid sedan took a 73% nose dive from 2010 to 2011, and according to Inside Line, Lexus stopped production of compact hybrid coupe in January.

Considering Lexus’ fairly recent hard-line against entry level models, the death of the HD 250h shouldn’t come as a shock. The success of the Ct200h and the introduction of a new hybrid ES into the equation only made the writing on the wall more obvious for the Corolla-based hybrid.
