Lexus Reveals Sexy, Sinister RC F GT3
Before Hitting a Race Track, New RC F GT3 Will Take Geneva by Storm
To get you all excited for this week’s Geneva Motor Show, which kicks off March 9, Lexus wants to show you something special they’ve got lined up for the European crowds. This sinister-looking dark lord Lexus is the 2017 RC F GT3.
But this baby’s not just for show. Believe it or not, even that monstrous wing has purpose. See, she’s FIA-approved, which means every bit of the production RC F has been squeezed for more speed. As such, the RC F GT3 will be going global to compete in motorsports in the U.S., Japan and Europe.
To hang with the big boys, the RC F GT3 packs a 500-hp 5.4-liter V8 mated to a 6-speed sequential transmission. She sports 13X18-inch wheels with center locks. And she’s 4,845 mm long, 2,030 mm wide, and 1,270 mm high. To get down to her 1,300 kg playing weight, engineers shed 495 kg off the production RC F.

In order to strip so much weight, Lexus went heavy on light-weight carbon fiber, from the hood and roof to the trunk lid, door panels and even the dashboard.
After the Geneva show, which ends March 19, it’s time to get down to racing. Two RC F GT3s will join the 3GT Racing team competing in America in the IMSA WeatherTech Sports Car Championship Series. Two other cars will join LM Corsa competing in the GT300 class of Japan’s Super GT Series. And in Europe, Farnbacher Racing and Emil Frey Racing will selectively race them in the International GT Open series.
Needless to say, we’ll be eagerly watching. How about you?
