Lexus RC F GT500 Hits the Track
Here we have some drool-worthy video, officially released by Lexus International to showcase their new Lexus RC F racecar competing in the 2014 Super GT series. As Autoblog points out, it’s an odd tip of the hat to a concept depicting high society x tech.
The debuted the car with an eclectic stage concept, with pit crew mannequins dressed in formal double-breasted race gear, top hats, headphones and reflective eye wear is a direct reflection of Lexus’ recently strong marketing efforts to position themselves seriously in the luxury-performance market.
They’ve taken a bold approach with their brand and identity management, as we’ve been seeing slews of media and releases throughout their marketing campaign to position themselves as highly capable in all fields technology, luxury, and performance. A huge departure, and a surefire remedy to their dusty reputation as the least exciting luxury auto brand in its class.
The RC F GT500 racer will be powered by a 2.0-liter turbo-charged 4 cylinder engine, as opposed to the 4.0-liter V8 in their DTM entry. Just take a look at the video and listen to how absolutely menacing the car sounds as it spools, backfires, and chortles itself through the racetrack.
It sounds visceral and intense, and absolutely beautiful.
