Lexus RC 350 F Sport Coupe: Review
F Sport Version of Lexus’ Sports Coupe Retains Luxurious Interior but Still Searches for that Sporting Edge
Books can’t be judged by their cover, but if the Lexus RC 350 F Sport is anything to go by, consumers should be in for one heck of a ride. Departing with $55,000 of your money will allow the sleek RC 350 to nestle in your garage, but there are some things to consider first before taking that leap.
Buying a coupe is always a personal decision, rather than a rational one, so you have to keep in mind the Lexus way of things in terms of how this car feels. Despite the F Sport badge, the RC 350 absolutely leans towards luxury. The seats, for instance, are some of the most comfortable I’ve ever had the pleasure of sitting in when I had the RC 350 F-sport on press-loan recently. Mark Levinson audio is also worth every penny, if you choose to get that option. Quiet, stable and comfortable, the RC 350 is an awesome highway mile-marker chaser.
Variable ratio steering technologically is fascinating, but unfortunately removes almost all feel from the steering. In a highway setting, this makes the car track effortlessly, but it isn’t confidence-inspiring when you’re hitting the twisty stuff. This is surprising given other ingredients, including adjustable dampers, a limited slip differential, and sticky Potenza RE050 tires.
Motivation to the rear wheels comes from a 3.5 V6, which provides 305 horsepower, and a decent 288 lb/ft of grunt. If you’re looking for more fire, the RC F would be the solution, but that’s a whole other animal.
