Lexus NX and BMW X3: Turbo Versus Turbo
After what seemed like months of endless comparison tests between the Lexus RC F and the BMW M4, we are finally starting to get some more family friendly reviews. This double review comes to us from the cool kids Down Under at CarAdvice. The duel takes the new turbocharged NX200t from Lexus and pits it against the X3 xDrive28i from BMW.
Both crossovers feature 2.0-liter turbocharged engines that produce nearly identical horsepower and torque figures, but the BMW has a better transmission with an 8-speed unit compared to the Lexus’s 6-speed box. The entire piece goes back and forth between what makes these two little SUVS great and what needs to be fixed. The BMW is the sharper driver, but its stiff suspension makes it nearly unbearable on rough pavement. The Lexus is loose and floppy in the corners, but it has brilliant ride comfort on the rough stuff.
In the end the verdict comes down to a draw. If your “sport luxury” SUV needs more sport, go with the BMW. If you prefer the luxury side of things, the Lexus is the obvious choice. Both cars get the exact same comparative score, so it really does come down to your preference, and not which one is better.
