Lexus IS Launches Down Hot Wheels Track, Makes December Memorable
Just because we’re only in November that doesn’t mean it’s too early for Lexus to drop their “December to Remember” ad campaign!
As they did last year with the “Teleporter” spot, this season, Lexus’s two new Christmas ads… excuse me, let’s be PC about this… Lexus’s Holiday ads featuring Santa will use the narrative of a parent showing their kids how a gift-wrapped Lexus miraculously showed up in the driveway on Christmas morning.
The first of the new ads, shown just above, is called “Snow Globe.” It features Santa sitting at his desk, using chop sticks to affix a red bow to a miniature white Lexus ES. As he’s adding sparkly snow flakes and sealing up the globe, we hear the voiceover of a dad telling his daughter that “Santa has a magic snow globe for every family, and whatever he puts in our snow globe shows up at our house.” And this year, it’s a sweet new ES! Magical indeed, though perhaps a bit disconcerting to know that all we are is snow in the globe.
While that spot gets the magic part right, the next spot, “Racetrack,” does that and more. Not only is it magical, it’s awesomely magical. As you can see in the video above, this time, the parent explains to the kid that the Lexus in the driveway is the result of a penguin “way up in the North Pole,” launching a toy car onto a racetrack. Then they show that toy car turning into a real Lexus IS rocketing down the red track, gripping around a corkscrew, and coming to a stop in the driveway!
The kid doesn’t even know how lucky he is when he questions the veracity of the tale by pointing out that penguins actually live in the South Pole. Regardless, it’ll definitely be a December to remember for years to come. Heck, he’ll probably remember it when he’s 16 and his parents gift him that well-made IS.
