Lexus Hoverboard Park Spied One Month Into Construction
Last week, Lexus showed off their real-life hoverboard and blew the internet’s collective mind. The teaser video has already racked up nearly 7-million views, most likely from wanna be Marty McFlys the world over.
If a video that doesn’t even show someone riding the darn thing can cause such hullabaloo, imagine how folks will react to seeing the hoverboard in action. Well, that’s the plan, but before that happens, there needs to be a skate park that’s been specially designed to support the “magnetic levitation” that Lexus tells us they’re using to create such amazing-ness in motion. In other words, there would have to be a magnetic force coming from the track that is opposite to the one coming from the hoverboard.
Apparently, that track has been under construction for about a month, according to Spanish website El Patín, who uncovered the location of the hoverboard park in a village outside of Barcelona. As you can see in the photos, not only is the lucky rider going to get to basically fly around like a futuristic Tony Hawk, but they’re going to do so on a sick track with all sorts of interesting park features.
As cool as all this sounds from an engineering standpoint, I’ll have to see this thing in motion before I’m fully sold on the fun factor. Like are you going to be able to do tricks on the thing? And by tricks, I’m talking about the kind of crazy stuff you can find in the TransWorld SKATEboarding video below. Because as far as I’m concerned, those guys are already flying.
