Lexus Australia: “We’d Love to Get” LF-LC Convertible
If you’ve always wanted to go to Australia, this would certainly be a good reason to go.
Lexus Australia chief executive, Sean Hanley, recently sat down with CarAdvice for a conversation about the LF-LC concept car, and the possibility of a production car based upon such a catchy concept.
You remember the LF-LC, right? Lexus’s sports luxury coupe hybrid they debuted in 2012, first in radiant red at the Detroit show and then in bold blue at the Australian show, as shown above.
Though there’s no set plan, Hanley thinks the LF-LC would make a fine flagship performance car, perfect for battling the Mercedes-Benz S-Class Coupe.
“For us the LF-LC concept or a convertible with some sort of performance is some sort of car we’d love to get,” he said. “I think there is a market for convertibles in Australia. Performance convertibles.”
Performance is obviously an important word for Hanely, as it is for many of us. But before you go getting too excited, Hanley did preface such bold talk with the caveat that no LF-LC convertible production plans are currently going forward. But he did say that the company’s ability to bring the concept to reality is “pretty good now.”
So maybe just get kind of excited.
