LC 500 Makes Angeles Crest Even Prettier (Video)
Could there be a More Suitable Road for the Stunning LC 500 than Angeles Crest Highway? Fortunately, Lexus Doesn’t Think So
The Angeles Crest Highway is THE place for spirited driving here in Southern California, particularly for go-fast performance cars that really like the twisties. Well, judging from the Lexus video below, the LC 500 definitely qualifies as one of those.
Located in the stunning San Gabriel Mountains in Los Angeles County, the ACH is also somewhat of a proving ground for local enthusiasts. I’m assuming they were plenty excited to see Lexus’s forthcoming 2+2 performance coupe beautifying the bendy two-lane highway.
The clip begins with the sun rising over the sleepy peaks, soon followed by the sweet, sweet wake-up call of that naturally-aspirated, 471-horsepower, monster 5.0-liter V8 firing up. Then via text graphic, we learn that this video will have something to do with “sharpening the LC driving spirit.”
One look at the winding road ahead, and knowing about the car’s new tight, light carbon fiber chassis and 10-speed automatic transmission, and you just get a good feeling that the next couple of minutes are going to be great fun.
Indeed they are too, particularly if you love the soundtrack of a good exhaust superbly mixed with some hot-rocking beats. Beyond the spirit sharpening rhetoric of the intro, there’s no more text, and not one word spoken, though there is some dramatic chanting dubbed into the electronica. That, coupled with the ever-crescendoing sounds of the engine flexing and purring, and you’re spinning into a bit of a driving dream. So much so, that you may just have the LC 500 stuck in your head.
At least until you can actually buy one yourself this spring. Then you can go sharpen your own LC driving spirit.
