IS300.NET – End of Summer Meet at Luxury Motorworks – Monrovia, CA

It was a picture perfect, textbook, hot and unusually clear 100 degree Southern California day on September 5, 2004. It was so clear, you can see the high rise buildings of Downtown LA in the distance from as far as 40 miles away. A great day for IS300 owners & enthusiasts to meet on a Labor Day holiday weekend. The meet was hosted by Luxury Motorworks, LLC in Monrovia, CA (just east of Los Angeles), organized by Joe Z, Ltunedgirl (aka Princess4) of IS300.net and the LMW Staff. The meet drew more than 40 different styles of IS300s, families and people from all over Southern California.

The day started off with special combo/install deals for LMW's "Sense-O-Shock Dual Stage Factory Alarm Upgrade" as well as the "LuxLink Remote Start" addition. Other parts were on display and for sale as well as blowout specials on Tanabe exhausts & suspension components.

For those with an appetite, lunch was catered offering tasty burgers and hot dogs along with the great tasting beans and potato salad. Spectator thirst was quenched by the many cases of ice cold bottled water and soft drinks.

There was also a raffle that yielded many prizes by Overboost.com and Luxury MotorSports (Luxury Motoworks' new line of Lexus performance products), B&G Lubricants as well as AeroShield Clear Paint Protection (Authorized 3M & Venture Tape Installer) just to name a few.

The highlight of the meet was the unveiling of two big projects that LMW has been working on to add to the LMS line. The first is a Big Brake Kit for the IS300 which includes beefier calipers, larger aggressive discs as well as stainless steel braided brake lines. The second was the magnetic clutch type S/C kit which would be able to be linked to a switch via the dashboard to activate and disable the supercharger operation. The kit would be sold in stages where you could start with the first stage which would be the basic Cold Air Intake piping. Then if you're itching to go with boost, the piping can be flipped around and added to additional piping to complete the cycle for the supercharger and intercooler setup. This is definitely an innovative idea for staged performance needs as well as a way to bypass tough CA emission requirements come smog check time.

Despite the 100 degree heat, people managed to come out from all parts of SoCal to convene with other Lexus enthusiasts. Many people came out including families, young adults, the avid enthusiasts, and a pastor! It was definitely an event for all ages. Many newbies and veterans came out to show and check out each others rides. LXOGOOD displaying his VIP style GS that many admired and appreciated. As the day came to a close, people left the event enlightened with new ideas and excitement for new parts being developed for the 2JZ-GE 6 cylinder platform as well as the IS and even GS. This was definitely a memorable day to spend a picture perfect, textbook, hot and unusually clear 100 degree Southern California day and on top of that Labor Day Weekend. Thanks again to LuxuryMotorworks and the staff that organized & hosted the event.
