How-To Tuesday: Tricking Your Lexus Tire Pressure Sensors

You know what they say: fool me once, shame on you; fool my tire pressure sensors, good job.

Yes, today’s How-To Tuesday article is going to help you fool the tire pressure sensors in your Lexus IS, GS, ES, or RX between the model years 2005-2013. And though you might like to think of yourself as an honest person, trust me, you’re going to want to fool these little buggers.

Tire pressure sensors can be really helpful. But when you change your tires a lot, say for a track day, or if you have an aftermarket setup, then you may find the TPMS’s warning light and sounds far more annoying than helpful. Kind of like Phil Simms.

While there’s seemingly no way around Phil announcing Broncos games, there is a way around the TPMS warning system: the pipe bomb. And don’t worry, it’s not as drastic as it sounds. But it isn’t the easiest mod either, as you’ll need to be comfortable removing your wheels, have access to a balancer and an air compressor, and also have some other outlandish materials, including PVC piping — ergo the term “pipe bomb”.

After that, it’s just a five step process, all of which are covered in detail in the article. And of course, if you have any questions, your fellow Club Lexus forum members are always there to help. So stoop fooling yourself, and start fooling your tire pressure sensors.
