How-To Tuesday: Change Brake Discs on Your Lexus IS

If your car is grinding when you brake, or it shudders like the alignment is off, it’s probably time to replace your brake pads and rotors. It’s really not a job you want to put off. But it is one you can easily manage on your own. That’s right, you can DIY those babies.

I’ll be the first to admit it: I’m not a brave DIYer. So when you bring up words like “brake” and “pad” and “rotor,” I automatically think “mechanic.” But after reading today’s How-To Tuesday article, and watching the corresponding video below, I’m starting to think “maybe, just maybe.”

According to our crack How-To team, if you’ve got a Lexus IS 250, IS 350, or IS F between the years 2004-2014, changing your pads and rotors is an easy fix. Probably the hardest part of the process is assembling all the parts you’ll need. There’s quite a few on the list, and a couple of them aren’t the kind you usually find lying around a timid DIYer’s house. But think of all the parts you can buy with all that money you’ll be saving at the mechanics!

So if you’re feeling bold, head on over to today’s article and get started. It’ll walk you through the whole process, step by step, with helpful GIFs for all your brake visualization needs.
