The luxury SUV segment – a highly competitive playing field with rugged intentions, but oftentimes ill-suited for actual off-road application. The GX sits in a price category that plays aggressively filled with European peers that encompass both crossover and proper SUVs.
The GX has always been a bit of an oddball, sharing its platform with the much loved and iconic Toyota 4 Runner. Instead of opting for a softer car-crossover platform, the GX460’s been largely unchanged since its introduction 12 years ago. With a facelift to include Lexus’s new signature spindle grill, the GX’s frame has thankfully been untouched. And while most of these cars won’t ever see anything rougher than a gravel shoulder, it’s still nice to know that Lexus has stuck to its guns here.
