Should the GT86 Shooting Brake Really Be a Lexus?

The Toyota GT86 Shooting Brake concept took he internet by storm recently. Since then, more renders and ideas have surfaced, but perhaps the biggest question of them all is this: could the Shooting Brake concept go into production as a Lexus?

The official answer is no. Toyota has already mentioned that the Shooting Brake concept is nothing more than that—a concept. The folks over at Australia’s Toyota design team simply decided to have some fun, and create a fully-functional concept they can show around the world, just to wow people left and right. It seems they’ve succeeded.

On the other hand, if you ask me, I believe that Toyota made a fully drivable concept for a reason. And the money, time, and effort invested into this won’t go wasted. While I don’t see a GT86 Shooting Brake happening in the near future (at least in the U.S.), I really do believe this could turn into a Lexus, specifically as a baby CT or even a CT successor.

Regardless of what happens, this GT86 Shooting Brake concept is pretty stunning, and we should appreciate it for what it is — a concept… For now!
